Management Master at ISM - Acting responsibly in management positions

All globally active companies and organizations need specialists and managers who assume responsibility in society and the economy and make entrepreneurially sensible decisions. These decisions must be communicated to others, but at the same time be economically and socially justifiable. It is precisely this knowledge of economics that the Master of Management in the ISM distance learning program teaches and prepares you for future tasks and challenges.

This is what awaits you in your Master's programme in Management

The Master's degree program in Management prepares you for your future as a manager in business and teaches management skills that you need to take on management tasks. This includes technical-analytical expertise as well as analytical-quantitative methodological competence, which helps you to deal with professional challenges. In addition to the professional focus, the Management degree program aims at your social and personal development. This includes in particular the ability to work together with others in interdisciplinary, cross-functional and international teams in a goal-oriented manner and to take on leadership tasks. In addition, this degree program teaches in-depth scientific skills that will enable you to take on a leadership position in the fields of research or management consulting.

The Master's program in Management is offered in 2 versions:

The program can be studied full-time (4 semesters) with 120 ECTS credits or in two part-time versions (6 or 8 semesters). A version with 90 ECTS credits is also offered, which can be studied full-time (3 semesters) or in a part-time variant (6 semesters).

If you have completed a Bachelor's degree with 180 ECTS credits, our Master's in Management with 120 ECTS credits is the right choice for you. If you have already completed 210 ECTS credits in your Bachelor's degree, the 90 ECTS Master's degree is the right option for you.

Choose your personal specialisation

As you can see from the curriculum, you have the opportunity to select six electives. You can currently choose from the following specialisations:

  • Specialisation #1

    Digital Marketing

You see your future in the digital world and would like to deal with topics such as media psychology, strategy & planning of digital marketing as well as digital communication or e-commerce? Then this specialisation is exactly what you are looking for.
  • Specialisation #2

    Sustainability

Are you interested in topics related to sustainable business? Then set your focus with the modules from the specialisation "Sustainability", e.g. "Theories & Methods of Global Sustainable Development" and "Introduction to the Management of Sustainable Organisations".
  • Specialisation #3

    Human Resources

Does your professional future revolve around the people in your company? Then the specialisation Human Resources could be particularly relevant for you. Here you will find modules ranging from "General Psychology" to "Value-oriented Leadership".
  • Specialisation #4

    Business Mediation & Coaching

Do you see yourself in a mediating role in companies or as a consultant in self-employment? Then the elective modules from this specialisation, e.g. on systemic business coaching or on methods of solution-focused discussion, are just right for you.
  • Specialisation #5

    Digital Education

If further development in the field of digital education is particularly exciting for you, take a look at the modules in this specialisation: "Learning with Multimedia", "Educational Technology Trends" or "Computer Supported Cooperative Learning". Expected start of this specialisation: September 2023.
  • Specialisation #6

Is the logistics industry or logistics department your future? Then this specialisation is exactly the right focus for you. From "Global Sourcing" to "Lean Management" to "Quality Management", you will get to know all the important areas of economics. Expected start of this specialisation: September 2023.

Of course, if you simply want to choose your own electives, that's no problem either. In this case, the additional information about the specialisation is simply omitted from the degree certificate. More detailed information on which electives belong to which specialisation can be found in this graphic.
